You’ve decided to have your wedding somewhere exotic, whether Paris, Hawaii or Victoria or somewhere even more far flung (and hopefully my blog has helped you make some decisions). Everyone is onboard and looking forward to celebrating with you.
And now there’s the critical decision of the colour scheme, it sets the tone for everything, from the bridesmaid dresses, to flowers, decor and invitations. This is one of your first major decisions, because you can’t start without it!
So just for fun, and for something totally different, and because I love colour, I’ve created these compilations to get you thinking and hopefully inspired. Oh and you’ll notice a lot of blue combinations, and that’s because blue looks great on everyone, and I love it, particularly Navy Blue.
For a soft and dreamy feel, try shades of Rose, Peach and Ivory or variations of thereof. And you won’t find a single girl that doesn’t look good in these colours. Rose Gold is your perfect metallic accent.
Grey and Yellow has a charm that can’t be beat. Yellow is a tricky colour to wear for almost everyone, so if you want your bridesmaids in yellow, consider something soft like the buttercream yellow pictured. Add Silver as your metallic accent.
Navy and Rose Gold are sophisticated and elegant when combined. Giving rich tones for photographs. And again, Navy looks good on everyone. In this case, White is your accent colour.
If you want fresh and light. Tiffany Blue and White will give you that feel, it’s got a light and ethereal feel, and most girls will be able to pull this colour off! Add in Silver as your metallic accent.
For a more neutral theme, try Taupe and Browns, again watching which shades you put your girls in. However, it will make for a very soft, pretty and earthy theme, add in Copper for your accent colour.
Lavender & Plum are gorgeous and help refine what could otherwise be a casual but chic wedding, just be careful which shades you choose for your bridesmaids, the wrong shade could wash them out and impact your photos. Add in Gold as your accent metallic.
The soft ethereal feel of baby blues and pinks lends to a sense of romance, and most of your bridesmaids will be able to wear these colours. Add in either Gold or Rose Gold as your accent.
The timeless elegance of Black and White while dramatic, is not for everyone. It makes a strong and bold statement, and you’ll need a fantastic photographer to be able to capture it well. The beauty here is that you can add in any of the metallics, Silver, Gold or Rose Gold.
Pretty is what you get when you use Coral and Sage Green for your colour theme. Again when choosing the shade be careful that all your girls look good, varying shades of the same colour can make all the difference. Add in Gold as your accent metallic.
If you want a bold yet fun colour statement, try Eggplant (Aubergine) and Navy. Your photos will look great, and most girls look good in this colour. Add Gold as your accent.
Here’s another fresh and pretty colour combination, Cornflower blue and white are fresh and crisp, yet pretty and fun all at the same time, and everyone looks fantastic in blue. Either Silver or Gold would look great at your accent metallic.
This sumptuous earthy combination of Maroon and Cream create a warm inviting feeling for your guests. Your bridesmaids should all look good in this colour as well. Add Gold as your accent metallic.
You can’t get more classic that Hunter Green and Gold, it’s both elegant and timeless. I don’t think these colours have gone out of style in decades! You can definitely let your girls pick the shade that suits them best, it will just add dimension. Add White as your accent colour.
Cool and sophisticated is what you get when you choose Grey and Silver as your theme. Add in Charcoal as your accent. However, this neutral combination allows you to add any colour you want as your accent; but I’d go with a deep and rich shade.
Much like black and white, Tangerine and Fuschia are not for everyone, however, they are fun and vibrant and will make everyone feel your joy. Tangerine is a tricky shade to wear so go for shades of all these colours in your bridesmaids dresses. Accent with Gold.
If you’re going for glam, this elegant Rose Gold and Black combination will definitely give you that! It makes a strong and sophisticated statement. Add Winter White as your accent.
Pink and Purple, who doesn’t love this combination, especially when you use the softer more pastel tones, add some softer greys to balance out the colour saturation. Silver or Gold will work beautifully as your accent.
Rich tones like Cranberry and Dusty Blue create a warm and inviting feel. You can either put your girls in the Dusty Blue or Cranberry depending on what you want your primary colour to be. Add Gold as your metallic accent.
There is nothing more elegant than White on White, everything takes on a dreamy timeless feel. Your bridesmaids aren’t competing with you, you’ll still outshine them. Add in a metallic of your choice, though I’d go for Gold.
Elegant and sophisticated is the first thing that comes to mind with a Navy and White colour scheme. It is probably one of my favourites. You can’t go wrong when dressing your girls in Navy. Add Silver as your metallic accent.
