The 6 Best Cordless Battery-Powered Snow Blowers [year] (2024)

Just a few short years ago most of us would never have considered that there would be such a thing as a cordless battery-powered snow blower. That’s changed recently as these machines have steadily improved and are now considered a great option as a primary snow removal tool. Below you’ll find our reviews of the best cordless snow blowers available on the market in 2024.

These are the Best Cordless Battery-Powered Snow Blowers 2021:

  1. Ryobi RY40860
  2. Snow Joe iON8024-XR
  3. Snow Joe iON18SB-HYB
  4. Earthwise SN74022
  5. Kobalt KSB 6080-06
  6. Greenworks Pro SN60L410

1. Ryobi RY40860

The best cordless snow blower for the money

When we looked for the cordless snow blower that was the best value for the money we wanted a product that many of the features you’d find with a high-end machine without the large price tag. We felt the Ryobi 21-inch 40-volt brushless model was the best option. This snow blower still retails for well under $600, but it’s also packed full of features. With a 40-volt battery, it has more than enough power for most situations.

With a 21-inch clearing path and the ability to dig through snow up to 13 inches deep, this snow blower easily rivals its gasoline-powered rivals. In some categories, it’s better than them, such as the fact you don’t have to worry about gas and oil, it emits zero emissions and it operates quietly. You also can turn the chute up to 180 degrees to find the angle you want and it throws snow up to 35 feet out of your way. The handle is telescoping and easily foldable for easy storage. One other thing we should mention here, this snow blower has an impressive 5-year limited warranty.

As with all cordless battery-powered equipment you do have to worry about running out of charge – once you do all you can do is connected the battery to a power source and wait. On the plus side, this machine does have two battery ports, so you can run two batteries and extend the running time twice as long. One other thing that did concern us with this product was the plastic used on the bottom of the scraper – it’s not very durable and can break with a lot of use.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Ryobi RY40860:

  • 21-inch cutting path.
  • Chute turns up to 180 degrees.
  • Telescoping handle for easy storage.
  • Throws snow up to 35 feet.
  • Have to recharge and wait when the battery runs low.
  • Plastic on the scraper is not very durable.

After a close look at all of its features, we’re confident that the Ryobi 21-inch 40-volt battery-powered cordless snow blower offers the best value for money. We love the 21-inch clearing path and the 13-inch clearing depth. Also, the 2 battery ports serve to alleviate some of the concerns we have with a battery-powered snow blower – it allows you to go longer on one charge. For a machine priced under $600, this is great value for the money.

2. Snow Joe iON8024-XR

The best high-end battery-powered snow blower

When it comes to high-end cordless snow blowers we believe that the Snow Joe 24-inch 80-volt 2-stage model is the best on the market in 2024. This is a powerful machine backed by an 80-volt battery and with a 24-inch clearing path, so you can clear a lot of snow with each pass. It only comes with a 2-year warranty though, which is a bit of a concern for a machine priced just under $1000.

While this Snow Joe machine sufferers from the same runtime issues as other battery-powered models, you do get a full 30 minutes out of one charge without suffering any loss in power which is better than average and it’s actually powered by 2 40-volts, so you can run on one while the other charges if you prefer. The list of great features is long as well. This snow blower has headlights, it plows through 1000 lbs of snow per minute using a 2-stage system and the chute direction can be altered up to 180 degrees with an easy to use thumb control.

The chute only throws snow up to 32 feet, which is okay, but not the best in class. Another issue we found was that it doesn’t handle hard snow very well – it can’t seem to break it up. You may end up having to chip away at some of these spots with another tool which is a frustrating realization when you’re paying almost $1000 for a snow blower. It does work fine in normal snow conditions though.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Snow Joe iON8024-XR:

  • 24-inch cutting path.
  • Chute turns up to 180 degrees.
  • Removes up to a 1000 lbs of snow per minute.
  • Comes with headlights.
  • 80-volts of power.
  • Chute only throws up to 32 feet.
  • Warranty is only 2-years.
  • Doesn’t work well in hard snow.

While we were disappointed with the 2-year warranty on this snow blower and it’s limited range when throwing snow, there are still plenty of great features that convinced us that this 24-inch 80-volt machine from Snow Joe is the top-quality cordless battery-powered snow blower currently available. It can move a lot of snow quickly with up to a 1000 pounds per minute and a 24-inch clearing path. Combine that with the fact that it comes equipped with headlights and you have a machine that’s built to make your life easier.

3. Snow Joe iON18SB-HYB

Th best budget cordless snow blower under $300

If you have a small to average-sized driveway, you don’t have to break the bank for the convenience of a cordless battery-powered snow blower. There are some great inexpensive options available to you, and we believe the Snow Joe 18-inch 40-volt single-stage model is the best budget machine on the market in 2024. While the 18-inch clearing path isn’t as wide as some of its competitors, it’s enough if you only have a small driveway. With a 40-volt battery, it also has enough power to get the job done.

This machine is designed for comfort with an adjustable handle, so you can alter it for your height, it also has a cushioned handle to reduce any vibration. It works best in snow up to 8 inches deep, but you can work in deeper snowfalls if you’re patient. This machine only weighs about 32 lbs, making it ideal if you need to lift it into place to store it out of the way. Snow Joe has also added a rubber scraper bar at its base, so that you can clear snow without scraping your driveway.

As with any budget product, you do sacrifice in some areas for the reduction in price. It can only throw snow about 20 feet and that may be a stretch. It will also bog down if you try to use it in snow more than 12-inches deep. We were also less than impressed with the warranty which only covers parts and it runs for just 2 years.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Snow Joe iON18SB-HYB:

  • Priced under $300.
  • Adjustable padded handle.
  • Weighs only 32 pounds.
  • Rubber scraper bar prevents damage.
  • Chute only throws up to 20 feet.
  • Warranty is only 2-years.
  • Bogs down in thick snow.

For a budget snow blower under $300, the Snow Joe 18-inch 40-volt single-stage model does a decent job and is great for small driveways. We love the fact that it’s so lightweight for easy storage and the adjustable handle is convenient. The rubber scraper to protect your driveway is also a nice touch. It would be nice if the clearing path was a little wider and if the chute could throw snow beyond 20 feet, but overall this is a good find at a bargain price.

4. Earthwise SN74022

A good battery-powered option for under $400

In our battery-powered snow blower reviews, we were constantly on the lookout for models that combined to make the best combination of value and features. When we set our budget at about $400, we found that the Earthwise 22-inch 40-volt snow blower stood out from the pack. It clears a nice amount of snow with each pass at 22-inches and the 40-volt battery gives you more than enough power for most situations.

The chute on this Earthwise snow blower is fully adjustable up to 180 degrees and it can throw snow up to 30 feet, which is pretty good for a battery-powered snow blower. They’ve also paid close attention to comfort when making this machine. The handle features an ergonomic design and it’s well-padded. You can also fold it down for easier storage in small places. At just 32.4 lbs, you’ll have no problem lifting it if you need to transport it or if you just want to lift it over an obstacle in your way.

Earthwise claims this snow blower will run for about 60 minutes, but the real number is a lot lower than that in thick snow – probably more like 35 to 40 minutes. That makes it impractical for use on large driveways. They also recommend it for use in snow up to 12 inches, but we found a maximum of 8 inches is probably more realistic. The manufacturer only offers a 2-year limited warranty with this product as well, so you’ll want to consider that before purchase.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Earthwise SN74022:

  • Priced under $400.
  • Ergonomic padded handle.
  • Weighs only 32.4 pounds.
  • 22-inch clearing path and throws snow up to 30 feet.
  • Battery runs out in less than 45 minutes in thick snow.
  • Warranty is only 2 years.
  • Best for depths of 8 inches or less.

There wasn’t a lot we didn’t like about the Earthwise 22-inch 40-volt snow blower for the price. For under $400 we felt it was a bargain with a 22-inch clearing path and the ability to throw snow up to 30 feet. We also like the lightweight design that makes it easy to transport and store. The warranty could be better and we found the battery run time a little underwhelming, but for the most part, this is a good machine that’s worth the investment.

5. Kobalt KSB 6080-06

The best cordless snow blower under $600

If you have at least $600 to spend on your new snow blower we recommend the Kobalt 80-volt Max 22-inch model. This is a great snow clearing machine for a cordless battery-powered snow blower. With a 22-inch clearing path and 80-volts to move you along, you can move a lot of snow in a short period. This is a single-stage machine, but that doesn’t seem to slow it down any.

The auger has 2 different speeds, so you can easily adjust it to keep up with the type of snow you’re dealing with there’s a low setting for a light dusting and a high setting for dealing with the thicker stuff. It can also throw snow up to 30 feet as you move along and the chute is fully adjustable up to 180 degrees. This Kobalt machine is also equipped with LED headlights to light your way in the dark and it has 8-inch rear wheels for extra traction when the going gets tough. All of this is backed by a 5-year limited tool warranty and a 3-year limited battery warranty.

This machine is a little heavier than similar battery-powered snow blowers at 57 lbs, but that’s still relatively light compared to gasoline-powered machines. While the manufacturer specs it to be good for clearing snow up to 12-inches, count on 6 to 8 inches to be safe. You may also find it struggles a bit in wet heavy snow as well.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Kobalt KSB 6080-06:

  • Priced under $600.
  • LED headlights.
  • 80-volt battery.
  • 22-inch clearing path and throws snow up to 30 feet.
  • Fairly heavy at 57 lbs.
  • Works bests in depths of 6 to 8 inches.
  • Can have trouble in wet heavy snow.

The Kobalt 80-volt Max 22-inch is a great snow blower for a product under $600. It has all of the features you’d expect on a higher-end model including LED headlights, large 8-inch rear wheels and a 22-inch clearing path. We were also impressed with the adjustable chute up to 180 degrees and the fact that it throws snow up to 30 feet. It is a little on the heavy side and it does work best in lighter snowfalls, but overall this is a top-quality machine with a very competitive warranty compared to its peers.

6. Greenworks Pro SN60L410

Another great option for under $300

For small driveways, we found the Greenworks Pro 60-volt snow blower to be one of the best bargains under $300. This is a nice little machine with a lot of great features. For a fairly compact model, it can still clear a lot of snow in a short period with its 20-inch clearing path. The 60-volts of battery power it comes with is also more than enough for small to medium-sized driveways.

The Greenworks Pro 60-volt snow blower has an easily adjustable chute with a 180-degree turn radius. That means you can direct the snow in pretty much any direction you like. The battery and charger are included when you purchase this machine and it charges relatively quickly, so you can get to your snow clearing without a lot of waiting around. It can handle snowfalls up to 10 inches, but you will have to work a little harder in these depths.

As you’d expect in a less expensive snow blower there are some drawbacks with this machine. The battery will only run for about 30 minutes on one charge, so it’s not a great choice for large driveways. Also, the chute only throws snow about 20 feet, so it can pile up on the sides quite quickly. There are no headlights on this machine either and the warranty is limited to parts only, although it is good for 4-years.

What we like (and don’t like) about the Greenworks Pro SN60L410:

  • Priced under $300.
  • Adjustable chute radius up to 180 degrees.
  • 60-volt battery.
  • 20-inch clearing path.
  • Runtime only 30 minutes.
  • Chute only throws snow about 20 feet.
  • Warranty is parts only.

As long as you’re using it on a small to medium-sized property, the SN60L410 60-volt snow blower from Greenworks is a capable machine. The adjustable chute radius allows you to throw the snow where you want it and the 20-inch clearing path allows you to spend less time plowing snow and more time with the family. It would be great if the runtime was a little longer and if it could move snow more than 20 feet away, but this is still a great find for a machine that’s priced under $300.

Our Final Thoughts

We were surprised at the number of great products available in 2024 in the cordless electric snow blower category. TheSnow Joe 24-inch 80-volt 2-stage model is probably the best overall choice in our reviews if budget isn’t a major concern, but anyone of these products will easily get the job done.

What we found great about these 2024 models is that battery runtime has improved significantly. Things can only get better in 2021 and beyond. In the near future, we anticipate that we’ll no longer be paying a lot of attention to runtime limitations on cordless battery-powered snow blowers.
