Does UCSB have spring break? ›

Spring break occurs between the winter and spring quarters. For specific dates, and other key information, view the Academic Calendar.

Length of Quarters

A quarter is 11 weeks composed of 10 weeks of instruction and a final exams week. Quarter calendar dates are found on the Office of the Registrar's Calendar Information page. For more information on the campus calendar, please visit the General Catalog.

If the drop is approved, the course remains on the transcript with a "W" (Withdrawn) listed as the grade. If your request is approved, your record will reflect the change, and a $3 transaction charge will be billed to your BARC account.

Mid- to late March is typically the peak period for spring break for most colleges and universities across the country. This year, the majority of these institutions will have their rest and recreation between March 11 and April 1.

Parents & Family Weekend is held annually during fall quarter and provides a chance for families to explore UCSB and learn more about what life is like for their students. Events during the weekend include faculty presentations, campus tours, a visit with Chancellor Yang, and the opportunity to attend a course lecture.

Taking Courses Passed/Not Passed (P/NP)

If you opt for P/NP and acheive a grade of at least a C, you will "Pass" the course and earn units. However, if you earn a C- or lower, will have "Not Passed" the course and will not receive units. P/NP courses will have no impact on your GPA.

Change of Major Instructions

If you wish to change your major to an open major (listed below), send an email with your request to admissions@ucsb.edu. Your email MUST include the following: The subject line should read "Major Change Request." Include your full legal name and Application I.D.

When is Spring Break for the University of California, Los Angeles? Spring Break 2024 for UCLA Students is Week 5, March 24th-29th.

IFC Recruitment occurs both in at the beginning of fall quarter and again at the beginning of spring quarter and is open to all fully enrolled UCSB students. Joining a fraternity is a time commitment which is why some students choose to wait a couple quarters or years to come out to recruitment.

For the fourth year running, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Life is programming a week's-worth of unique, in-person opportunities to get active, find community, explore the arts, and be engaged on and around campus during the March 23–31 break.
