Motorola "REF" and Error Codes

I am receiving an error code on my Motorola digital receiver, what does it mean?

Often an error code can be cleared by power-cycling your receiver. Unplug the power cord from the back of the receiver, wait 15 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

Listed below are the definitions/explanations you may encounter:

CODE

Description

DI

The Dl code is a reboot on Motorola DCT receivers (digital receivers), which indicates a Guide Update. This reboot normally takes between 15 minutes to 1 hour but may take longer depending on the size of the update. DO NOT power down the box, this will restart the reboot process. This reboot may occur on every similar TV receiver within your home. If the Dl code does not clear after 4 hours, please call Sparklight’s 24/7 Technical Care Center at 877-692-2253 for further support.

DUI or DMI

This code is associated with the video interface that ‘talks to’ the TV before it sends a display signal. The code may briefly appear on the cable box when the TV is first powered on but should then disappear.

If the code remains displayed on the digital receiver, check all TV and cable equipment (cable box, TV, VCR, DVD, stereo receivers, etc.) and the coax cable at the wall outlet for any loose or damaged connectors. If the codes do not clear, power-cycle the receiver by unplugging the power cord from the back of the receiver, wait 15-20 seconds, then plug in the power cord again. If the code persists, please call Sparklight’s 24/7 Technical Care Center at 877-692-2253 for further support.

HUNT/FR1/FR2 - HUNT, FR1 or FR2

These codes indicate the box is searching for signal and generally require no action. The codes on the LED display should clear within a couple of minutes. If the codes remain, power-cycle your receiver by unplugging the power cord from the back of the receiver, wait 15-20 seconds, then plug in the power cord. If the code persists, please call Sparklight’s 24/7 Technical Care Center at 877-692-2253 for further support.

E00

This is not an actual error but indicates normal conditions after initializing the box. No action is required.

E01

This code indicates the need to restore out-of-band signal to the digital receiver. Please call Sparklight’s 24/7 Technical Care Center at 877-692-2253 for further support in resolving this error.

E02

This code indicates an initialization error and the digital receiver requires a power cycle to recover. Power-cycle the receiver by unplugging the power cord from the back of the receiver, wait 15-20 seconds, then plug in the power cord again. If the code persists, please call Sparklight’s 24/7 Technical Care Center at 877-692-2253 for further support.

E07

This code indicates a ROM verification failure and the digital receiver requires a power cycle to recover.
